Week 2: Shaders and Shadows


Week 2 Changelog:

Added:

  • New attack pattern to the Boss. It knows when you're hiding;
  • Dynamic lights and shadows;
  • Screen shake to Sell those Impacts;
  • New background sprites to fill in the void;
  • Arrow Keys! And [Z/X/C] for alternate keyboard layout;
  • Fade In and Out to Unity Scene transitions;
  • More Particles;

Changed:

  • Completely redesigned the Boss' arena and added destructibles;
  • Spacebar no longer used until I figure out why it was acting odd. Now jump is [C/L];
  • Rebuilt the Boss' Laser from the ground up using shaders and Raycast;
  • Boss' RNG is no longer pure, eliminating chance of getting lasered ten times in a row;
  • Laser Attack now blocked by objects, as it should;

Fixed:

  • Charge Attack used to aim at a position. Now it's a direction;
  • Boss' death shaking should be much less likely to send it careening off in a general direction;
  • Removed {Quit Game} button from main menu because it's still a browser game, what the hell am I doing?;

Not! Added:

  • Sound Effects. Those got sidelined pretty fast, but should hopefully arrive next week;
